BRIEF PARTNER PROFILE

TRT Trasporti e Territorio (TRT) is an independent consultancy firm, based in Milano, Brussels and Lecce and specialized in economics, planning and transport modelling. Established in 1992, the Company has earned a solid reputation in supporting public and private actors thanks to its professional and R&D activities in the fields of transport projects and policy assessment. TRT is, indeed, experienced in several and referenced professional services in the following main areas: strategic planning, planning and development of transport policies, research projects, feasibility studies, project assessment, transport demand analysis and forecast, logistics and freight transport, planning and regulating of public transport, energy and environment.

At Italian level, key clients of TRT are: the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the Treasury, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Bank of Italy, local and regional public administrations, private investors and transport operators as well.

At European and international level, TRT has a twenty-year experience in consulting and research projects for the European Commission’s Directorates (Environment, Transport, Research, Energy, Climate Change, Regional Policies, International Co-operation), and other European Institutions, such as for instance the European Parliament, the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Remarkably, TRT’s work has often been viewed as an element of reference by the EU institutions in designing and developing their policies in the transport domain.

Since 2005, TRT is certified according to UNI EN ISO 9001:2008 and has been compensating CO2 emissions related to its own activity.

TRT features a high-qualified and multidisciplinary team, which covers a wide range of skills and competences: transport planners and modellers, transport engineers, and experts in transport economics, social and behavioural aspects of mobility. TRT’s activity addresses multiple transport issues: research projects, policy development and planning, feasibility studies and assessment of infrastructure projects, transport demand analysis and forecasts, planning and regulating of public transport, freight transport and logistics, analysis of the European and international transport policies.

The senior staff of TRT, who holds the large majority of the Company’s shares, is also involved in teaching at the Politecnico di Milano and in several professional training programmes, in addition to the daily consulting activity.

PROJECT INVOLVEMENT

TRT leads WP9, Dissemination and impact management, by leading Task 9.1 related to Dissemination, Clustering and standardisation activities (i.e.). It is also responsible for tor MaaS enabling policy framework (T2.5) in WP2 and the MaaS operators’ business ecosystem and organisational structures (T3.2) in WP3.

KEY PERSONNEL

Mr. Angelo Martino (Male): is a senior expert in transport policy analysis and development and application of models for the analysis of transport demand and transport network, including their interaction with the land use, environment and energy systems. Since 2010, he manages the TRT office in Brussels. He has a long record of experience in project leadership and management in both domestic and international studies, and has served as key expert in research and service projects for the European Commission and international organisations. He has been involved in topics as transport forecasting, policy assessment, impact assessment, transport and land use modelling, sustainable mobility indicators and strategic transport models development at urban, regional and European scale. In the field of policy support, he is involved in DG MOVE projects related to the internalisation of external costs of transport and in the impact assessment of the future development of the Eurovignette Directive. He coordinated policy studies for the European Parliament’s Committee on Transport and Tourism in relation to different topics: external costs in the transport sector, HGV pricing, impact of high oil prices, sustainable urban mobility, green logistics, integrated ticketing for long distance travel, etc. In 2009 he was member of the DG TREN Focus Group “The Future for Transport”.

Ms. Claudia de Stasio (Female): (degree in Civil Engineering – Transport, MSc in “Sustainable Mobility and Transport “). Since 2001 she has developed a significant experience in transport modelling at regional level working on several feasibility studies for main road transport infrastructures. In 2007 she joined TRT and she has been involved in transport modelling at European level, working in Research Projects funded by European Commission. Among her experiences in European projects, she was the manager of the TRT working group in the ETISplus project where TRT was responsible for the production of the passenger database. She also managed the TRT team in COMPASS where solutions to improve availability of travel behaviour data and explored opportunities for harmonisation of the data collected were investigated.

Mr. Simone Bosetti (Male): (degree in Civil Engineering – Transport) has more than 15 years of experience in transport planning and traffic engineering. He collaborated in the drafting of several transport and mobility plans at international, national and local level. He gained expertise in the areas of road safety and traffic, cycle and pedestrian mobility, sustainable mobility and parking, as well as in the evaluation and impact assessment of transport measures and projects. In his professional experience he also dealt with the study of traffic impact of new settlements and urban development projects, with the support of micro-simulation dynamic modelling. Since 2008, he has been involved in CIVITAS initiative. He participated to the CIVITAS Pointer support action, dealing with the monitoring, cross-site evaluation and policy recommendations of the third CIVITAS programme (CIVITAS PLUS, 2008-2012). Currently is participating to the CIVITAS WIKI support action (CIVITAS Plus II, 2012-2016), whose main objective is fostering knowledge transfer, dissemination of best practices and debate about innovative measures for sustainable urban mobility based on the CIVITAS experience. He has a long record of experience in project leadership and management in both domestic and international studies, and has served as key expert in service projects for the European Commission and other international organisations.

Dr. Marco Brambilla (Male): (PhD in Public Economics) has 10 years of experience and he is senior expert of civil engineering, economics and planning of the transport sector. In 2010 he joined TRT as consultant where he works as transport engineer and economist. Expertise and skills are focused on the economic appraisal of transport infrastructures (cost-benefit analysis methodology), regulation of infrastructures and services, urban economics (with equity issues) and transport safety. Dr. Marco Brambilla has a good knowledge of multidisciplinary projects in Italian and European working groups and he has been working in a number of projects funded by European Commission. As transport economist, he contributed to the preparation of Guidelines on the methodology of project evaluation and appraisal and he has been appointed as trainer of sessions on transport projects appraisal. Dr. Marco Brambilla was also appointed lecturer at Politecnico of Milan, where he taught transport economics and planning.

Mr. Tito Stefanelli (Male): (degree in Urban and Environmental Planning, MSc in “Sustainable Mobility and Transport “) has over 10 years of experience in transport planning and mobility. He is co-founder of Trafficeye Srl, a highly specialised company in traffic and mobility surveys. In 2010 he joined 2010 TRT. Specialized in transport planning, he combines mobility aspects with urban planning issues. He contributed in the drafting of urban traffic and mobility plans both at local and international level. He took part and coordinated several mobility studies in urban areas also implementing dynamic micro-simulation models both locally and urban areas. He organised several urban and mobility surveys. He took part and coordinated traffic impact studies of the largest retail centres in the north-west of Italy (McArthurGlenn of Novi Ligure, VicoLungo Outlets, etc.). He joined TRT in 2010 and he is now involved in several European research projects aimed at improving sustainability of transport activities and policies.
